Famitsu Game Rankings

A whole week without updates. Surprise! Here's your weekly dose of what the Japanese are up to. Basically: football games. I know Football games are culturally relevant to us Europeans, but damn, not even our top 10 selling games devote 30% of it's space to football-orientated video games. Of course, if it were, we'd have Fifa 10 pretty high on the board. But since Winning Eleven (Pro Evolution Soccer) has a cult following in Japan, EA is out of luck. Megaman X: Operation Shooting Star enters at number 9 this week, FF:CC: The Crystal Bearers is rocking out at number 7 and Mario and Sonic sit tight at #10. Full list below:

Famitsu Game Rankings are sales figures collected and compiled by Japanese magazine company; Famitsu. They are generally posted every Wednesday and reflect the sales of games from the past week. All sales dates are Japanese dates and may not reflect release dates from other regions. 50Hz Blogger transliterates these lists and places them on the blog every week. Check back every Wednesday for updates. (Sometimes there may be an unexpected delay, in which case readers may find them appear on a Thursday or Friday.)
