31/12: Famitsu Game Rankings: 21st Dec - 27th Dec 2009

New Years is nearly apon us, so let us see what Japan will be playing in the coming year. Final Fantasy XIII, despite selling 1 and a half million units last week has slipped to mid-table. Is it stock shortages? Is it just that everyone who wants the game has basically bought it by now? Who knows. All I know is that New Super Mario Bros. Wii is still topping the table. No surprises at number 2 with The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks (EN locale), Nintendo also take away the bronze medal for their troubles as well with Tomodachi Collection being persistent as usual. Other than FFXIII, all games are for Nintendo consoles and 60% of the overall list is Nintendo-made games as well. I know we joke about Nintendo's pools of money... But hell, they must really, really be raking it in. Full list below:

Famitsu Game Rankings are sales figures collected and compiled by Japanese magazine company; Famitsu. They are generally posted every Wednesday and reflect the sales of games from the past week. All sales dates are Japanese dates and may not reflect release dates from other regions. 50Hz Blogger transliterates these lists and places them on the blog every week. Check back every Wednesday for updates. (Sometimes there may be an unexpected delay, in which case readers may find them appear on a Thursday or Friday... Not saying which weeks though...)
